M135 - Early stages of an implementation

Introduction

In this unit we explore what happens during the first few days and weeks of an SDBR implementation. We will see how the choking of raw material release causes the plant to drain inventory and how queues reduce. We will see how the Buffer Management priority system affects the choices made by work centres when they individually answer the question of 'what to work on next?'. We will also see how work centre priorities dynamically change over time and how a Capacity Constrained Resource (CCR) - if there is one - is likely to manifest itself.
